MediaMined™ enables better-sounding audio, faster and more creative workflows and lower barriers to entry for novice musicians.
Recording, mixing, or live sound sessions often have 100 or more unique audio tracks, with dozens of intermediate internal routings and outputs. Audio engineers process the tracks on computer-based software or hardware mixing consoles. The configuration, labeling, and setup of these audio tracks – choosing the signal chain, signal processing tools to use for each track, and best presets / parameters to use for those signal processing tools - is a laborious process, adding several hours of setup to any session and taking time away from the critical listening and creative art of sound engineering. Novice audio engineers face similar issues. Advances in computing power and storage capacity allow entry-level and home-enthusiast musicians to access the same technical sophistication of professional studios, which proves to be overwhelming to non-experts.
MediaMined recognizes and label audio tracks (e.g. male vocals, electric guitar, snare drum), and intelligently assists with workflows based on sounds detected. MediaMined is used in automatic labeling of audio track contents in audio/video editing software; automatic configuration of signal chain and selection of presets for equalizers, compressors, and other traditional audio signal processing tools based on the current input instrument.
This technology brings radically new capabilities to millions of musicians and audio engineers such as: innovative “find me something that sounds like this” search of audio content (music loops and sound effects); and automatic/intelligent control of music and audio software, signal processing algorithms, and hardware (mixing boards, effects boxes, guitar amplifiers.)
